We just concluded the regular daily sadhana with group of friends who recently learnt the Sudarshan Kriya. After we conclude sadhana, we read a knowledge sheet from the book An intimate note to sincere seeker by Gurudev Sri Sri RaviShankar ji. On that day the topic that came out was commitment and convenience.

After I read the knowledge sheet I floated the question on commitment. One of the response that I got was “it is difficult”. Do you recall the last time you used the term difficult in your life?

What do you think is difficult? There are many reasons but listing a few of them which comes without difficulty to me are listed below

  1. Something which is beyond our capacity
  2. Something which is new to us
  3. Something which we have no interest in
  4. Something which we think we may have to deliver alone
  5. Something which we think may involve interaction with others
  6. Something which has some unknown to us
  7. …and so on

Did you know that the most difficult work is already done for you? You may wonder how is that possible. Let me list few of them

  1. The human body — Do you know how complex it is? Do you know how it functions? Do you know how your heart beats? Most of us are given a fully functional human body.
  2. The air and the mechanism of breath — there is abundant air on the planet (pure or impure depends where you live) but did anyone ask you to manufacture air or design the breathing mechanism. No one, right? You just breath in to kickstart life and you breath out to kick the bucket.
  3. The human mind — it is the most complex machine that runs the human mechanics. Did anyone ask you to design its intelligence or how to make the mind perceive or create any of its other functions? Most of us are given a fully functional mind.

So, do you see that the most complex parts of your existence are given to you on a platter. Yet, when a task or responsibility comes in front of you, the first reaction is of apprehension, self-doubt.

Why is that?

Where is the difficulty?

Why is there hesitation?

Let me also know!! I am also as curious as you.

Do you think it is a good idea to understand

  1. how ideas come?
  2. how ideas lead to imagination?
  3. how imaginations become reality?
  4. how some ideas are lost in day dreams?

Do you think it’s an interesting subject to find out how our intentions manifest into reality?

It may hold the secret of overcoming difficulties in life. It may open up new dimensions for you.

Gurudev also says that no animal is given a tail which they cannot wag.

Imagine an elephant with mouse’s tail or vice versa. Can the mouse move with elephant’s tail? Is the mouse’s tail of any utility to an elephant?

Nature only gives you a situation which you can handle.

To understand the mechanics of problem solving and how to live through difficulties of life you need a master, a Guru.

Otherwise, life remains a struggle and you will continue to quote

  1. “Oh! it’s so difficult for me”,
  2. “Life is unfair”,
  3. “Why is it so simple for some people?”
  4. “how can you smile in midst of a crisis?”

What do you think? On which side of the life do you want to be?
